Mandala of Apollo: A Beacon of Creativity to Divine Connection

Apollo was my introduction to the world of magic. I vividly recall being a middle schooler, longing to portray Apollo in our class's Greek Myth Reenactments, only to be told that as a girl, I should take on the role of Artemis. To me, Phoebus seemed incredibly radiant and powerful have always been captivated by the sun and its divine rays. Rather than being a night owl, I have consistently favored the tranquility of the morning and the vibrancy of the day. I was fascinated by the sun's fire and felt an inner light glowing within my chest. No matter how dark the surrounding world became, I knew I possessed my own fire, soul, and creativity.

At nineteen, when I began college, I sensed a direct calling from Apollo. After undergoing a cleansing from harmful psychic burdens, I felt a deep need for spiritual healing and connection. That night, I dreamed of sun imagery, warm healing rays, and the transmutation of eternal fire and gold. Upon waking, I called out to clearly to Apollo, saying, “If you wish for me to be your patron, please send me another sign.” As I stepped outside my apartment, a hawk swooped past me and circled above my head. In that moment, I understood that my connection was genuine; Alexikakos was always by my side, urging me to work with him.

Throughout my journey as a practitioner, I have often felt frustrated by the lack of knowledge and written resources about Apollo. Exploring the history of Delphi and a variety of related materials has deepened my understanding significantly. After learning that omphalos stones were used to mark the site of Delphi, I created a large ceramic one to signify the boundary of my home. This was a physical marking of Sol creating a blazing barrier of protection surrounding my property. I recognize that the blessings of Apollo are all around us and reside within us as well. The divine source and sunlight dwell within our hearts, which serve as the wellspring of our love and creativity. To manifest the abundant life within, we turn to the arts, which fall under Apollo’s domain. These arts can be categorized into three forms: visual, literary, and performing. Through the creation and expression of these art forms, we, as humans, can engage all five senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. This interconnectedness forms a larger whole, a hub that embodies the infinite circle of spirit.

Art serves as a medium that transforms cosmic messages into tangible forms. It creates a bridge between the heavens and the divine spirit. This is why musicians, artists, or actors often enter a 'flow' or 'otherworldly state' when they work in their favored medium or perform; they tap into a liminal space, acting as conduits between realms and bringing those experiences to humanity for direct engagement. It is a true form of authenticity of self expression that connects humans to the higher realms.

I have always identified as a painter, but as I’ve explored various mediums and artistic expressions, whether is be dance, writing, or cooking I’ve observed that each phase of my life has grown stronger and more vibrant. This evolution has also influenced my magic. This is why, in my view, the arts communities are so resilient; they are genuinely full of life and vigor for more. Passion is the truest form of magic.

As I connected and reached a trance state with Apollo today the message was clear: No matter how dark the world becomes there is an ineffable light inside of everyone. A drop of divinity in the heart, an invincible summer that channels the golden rays of Sol and it can be tapped into through creativity. In today's capitalist society, art has become more vital than ever. It should not be motivated by financial profit, but rather by the yearning to connect with one's authentic self, their inner spirit, and subsequently, with the divine cosmos. It shouldn't be important if what you've created is labeled as 'good' or 'impressive.' What truly matters is that you have crafted something that embodies your essence, as your spirit is connection and apart of the divine.
