As I journey further along my magical path and practice, I’ve uncovered many connections between my trauma healing and the expression of the essential parts of myself needed for true empowerment. Magic serves as a toolkit for navigating the world, while healing is about achieving wholeness. Currently, I'm reading "No Bad Parts" by Richard Schwartz, which is rooted in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy Model. This exploration, combined with my magical practice, has reinforced my belief that humans are part of a greater unity and the divine, and that every aspect of myself is crucial for my well-being.
For those unfamiliar with it, the Internal Family Systems (IFS) Model is a transformative psychotherapy approach that promotes self-awareness and healing by engaging with the various sub-personalities or 'parts' within an individual. As I’ve worked through the planetary gates, I’ve realized that these different energies are vital for expressing the various parts of myself. For instance, Venus nurtures The Seductress aspect while also affirming my self-worth, Mars defends The Inner Child and cultivates The Righteous, and Mercury has helped assist my communication with others feeding The Strategist and resolving conflict in a nonconfrontational manner. Therapy has re-wired my brain to overcome trauma, and with the addition of my spiritual practice, my inner healing has progressed rapidly, making my magical efforts much more impactful.
It all began with healing and accepting all facets of who I am. Magic has aided me in gaining a deeper understanding of myself as an individual. Through this healing process, I’ve discovered that by simply being my authentic self, I’ve been able to help others more effectively than when I was burning out and sacrificing my well-being to save them.
The work I’ve done to process and accept my trauma has created a ripple effect in my life. My creative pursuits have improved, difficult techniques I can quickly learn, I found a stable job that requires less time and energy taxes yet pays the same, people who do not align with my values or respect me quickly exit my life, and relationships that had suffered due to family wounds have started to mend. The right people have come into my inner circle, as if the stars had aligned to put them there. Health issues that were exacerbated by mental harm have began to remedy themselves.
I am steadfast, grounded, and recognize my connection with all that exists. Everything aligns with the holistic approach it emphasizes the interconnectedness of physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual needs for overall improvement in life. A holistic magic approach is equally vital; ritual practices should be complemented by other strategic, tangible efforts. This way, spirit guides will assist in everything falling into place.
In a recent interview with Nicole Gadbois and Rufus Opus, Nicole stated something incredibly profound. “Being in the present moment is fully accepting what is of yours. When you’re in the energy of acceptance you’re in resonance.”
Acceptance involves recognizing the feelings and aspects that exist within a given situation. This applies to both trauma and moments of magic. Healing the heart, which serves as the connection between the celestial realms above and the depths below, is essential for experiencing the utmost joy in life. Stepping into one's power and being self-lead is the catalyst to mysticism.
The journey of healing is continuous, and the great work never ends; it's this very process that makes life worth living.
