Why Boundaries are Essential as a Magician
Why Boundaries are Essential as a Magician
Establishing boundaries has become crucial for me across all aspects of my life. In terms of work-life balance, I limit interactions with toxic individuals and, if necessary, sever ties. I also recognize the importance of spiritual boundaries.
Ultimately, you are the only thing in your life that you can control. Understanding yourself well enough allows you to chart your own path. Should you truly surrender your life completely to spiritual influences? If you engage in a magical working seeking help with a job, remember that you don’t have to accept every offer. "No" is a powerful word in the spiritual realm, just as it is in everyday life.
Witchcraft, as I perceive it, serves as a source of empowerment for communities that frequently lack alternative resources. Many of these individuals have been deprived of their ability to assertively say 'no.' This is why it's crucial to express when something isn’t right for you, especially when receiving a spiritual gift. In my experience, a straightforward "thank you, but no thank you" usually suffices to appease most spirits; adding a little extra incense afterwards doesn't hurt either. During my time at University, I sought assistance from Apollo regarding scholarships. I received an offer for a free class after doing some spellwork. I was working as a camp counselor at the time, I knew I couldn't manage both effectively. I graciously expressed my gratitude for the opportunity to Apollo then explained that the timing wasn’t ideal, declined the gift and offered another candle to him. Witchcraft is about freedom and liberation, this includes from being ruled by spirits and deities.
Embrace your spiritual authority, enhance your boundaries in every area of your life, and the appropriate abundant blessings will follow. Exercise discernment in what you choose to accept and take on. Guardian spirits are eager to assist you, but in the end, it's up to you to determine what is best for yourself.
On the other hand, do you struggle with establishing boundaries and saying no to people? Spiritual guidance can assist with this challenge as well. For many years, I viewed saying no as a negative experience that left me feeling guilty and inadequate. My sense of self was tied to what I could offer others. I often overextended myself in spiritual work for clients, even when I lacked the energy. I channeled my witchcraft abilities for individuals who may not have warranted such efforts. I took on an overwhelming number of exhausting tasks. I worked extensively in demanding roles like teaching. Working with children and their parents often proves to be draining. I found it difficult to refuse requests from partners or friends, as it made me doubt my self-worth and value as an individual. This resulted in numerous codependent relationships, where I often took on the role of a caregiver. There is nothing sacred about losing oneself while masquerading as a noble mission.
It can be alluring to harness magical abilities and connect with spirits to assist others and improve the world. However, remember to prioritize your own well-being as well. There is great value in self-preservation and ensuring that you remain rested and healthy too.
